Terms of use

These terms cover the Scrubsheet browser tool and the Scrubsheet add-in for Microsoft Excel. They are separate from the Dripwork terms of service, which cover the dripwork.dev website.

1. Who you are dealing with

Scrubsheet is published by a sole trader established in Finland, trading as Dripwork:

"We", "us" and "our" mean the above. "You" means the person using Scrubsheet, and the organisation they use it for.

2. What these terms cover

These terms apply when you use the browser tool at scrubsheet.dripwork.dev or install or use the Excel add-in. By doing so you accept them. If you get the add-in through Microsoft Marketplace, Microsoft's terms also apply to the listing, installation and any purchase made there; where they conflict with these terms on those points, Microsoft's terms govern.

3. The browser tool

The browser tool is free to use, with no account and no row limits. You may use it for personal and business purposes. We may change, improve or discontinue it at any time.

4. The Excel add-in

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the add-in in Microsoft Excel for your own purposes, on the plan that applies to you:

• Free: up to 500 rows per run, with the Redact, Mask, Clear and Keep methods.
• Pro: unlocked with a valid licence key. No row limit, every method, presets, consistent (deterministic) mode and mapping export.

Status. Pro is not on sale yet. Price, billing, renewal and refund terms will be added here, and on the Microsoft Marketplace listing, before it is.

You may not:

• share, resell or publish licence keys, or use one beyond what it was issued for;
• work around the plan limits or the licence check;
• copy, modify, reverse engineer or decompile the add-in, except where the law expressly allows it despite this restriction.

5. Your data and the results

Scrubsheet processes your spreadsheets on your own device; we never receive them (see the privacy policy). You remain responsible for the data you process with it, and for having the right to process it.

Please check the results before you rely on them. In particular:

• Detection is automatic and can miss columns or values, or suggest the wrong type. You choose the final settings.
• Replacing names, emails and IDs is not always enough to make data anonymous in the legal sense. Other columns, alone or combined, can still identify people. Whether the output is anonymous or only pseudonymised under the GDPR depends on the data and on who will receive it, and is your assessment to make.
• Fake values look real. Some, such as ID numbers for countries without a reserved test range, may by chance match a real person's number. They are not derived from your original data.
• Your project secret and any mapping file can be used to reverse or link the anonymization. Keeping them secure is your responsibility; we never have a copy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Scrubsheet:

• in breach of applicable law, including data protection law;
• to process data you are not authorised to process;
• to mislead anyone about whether data has been anonymized;
• in a way that interferes with the website or its hosting.

7. Support and availability

Support is by email at support@dripwork.dev, see the support page. We aim to answer within two business days, but we do not offer a guaranteed response time or a service level. The browser tool runs on your device once loaded; the website itself may occasionally be unavailable.

8. Intellectual property

Scrubsheet, its code, interface, name and logo belong to us. Nothing in these terms transfers them to you. Feedback you send may be used to improve Scrubsheet without obligation.

Scrubsheet includes third-party open-source software, including SheetJS Community Edition under the Apache License 2.0. The licence texts are in third-party-licenses.txt.

Microsoft and Excel are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies. Scrubsheet is an independent product and is not made or endorsed by Microsoft.

9. No warranty

Scrubsheet is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Scrubsheet will be error-free, that detection will find every piece of personal data, or that its output will meet any legal standard of anonymization.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or business interruption arising from your use of Scrubsheet, however caused.

Our total liability arising out of or in connection with Scrubsheet is limited to the fees you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose, or 50 euros if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. If you are a consumer

If you use Scrubsheet as a consumer rather than for business, you keep all rights given to you by mandatory Finnish and EU consumer law, and nothing in these terms reduces them. For a dispute we cannot settle between us, a consumer in Finland can contact the Consumer Advisory Service and refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi).

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page applies, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. Continuing to use Scrubsheet after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, and the Finnish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the EEA country where you live, and you keep the protection of that country's mandatory laws.
