Never send us your spreadsheet

Scrubsheet is built so that we never see your data, and support works the same way. Please don't attach the file you're working on, or paste real names, emails, ID numbers or other personal data into your message. If an example helps, make one up: a few rows with invented values that show the same problem are perfect.

What to include

• What you expected, and what happened instead.
• Browser tool or Excel add-in, and your browser or Excel version (web, Windows or Mac).
• The file type (.xlsx, .csv…) and roughly how many rows and columns.
• The column headers involved, and the type and method you chose for them.
• Any message Scrubsheet showed, copied out or as a screenshot without real data.

Common questions

A column wasn't detected, or was detected as the wrong type.

Choose the right type under Treat as; the method list updates to match. Detection looks at the column name and a sample of values, and national ID numbers are only recognised when their checksum is valid.

Leading zeros or phone numbers changed in my CSV.

Scrubsheet reads CSV values as text and keeps them as they are. If Excel changes them when you open the result, import the CSV with Data › From Text/CSV and set those columns to Text, or download as .xlsx instead.

My file is large and slow.

The browser tool handles hundreds of thousands of rows; the limit is your computer's memory. Keep the tab in view if it seems slow, and close other heavy tabs. The download contains the selected sheet only.

I lost my project secret.

We can't recover it: it is never sent to us. New files anonymized with a new secret will not match files made with the old one. If you ticked "Remember on this device", it is still in that browser.

The add-in doesn't appear in Excel.

Check that your Excel supports add-ins (Excel 2019 or later, Microsoft 365, Excel on the web or Mac 16.9+), then follow the install steps on the Excel add-in page. Clearing the Office cache often helps after an update.

What does the mapping file do?

It lists every original value next to its replacement, so it can undo the anonymization. Keep it somewhere secure and never share it with the anonymized data.

Email support@dripwork.dev with "Security" in the subject, and please give us a chance to fix it before disclosing it publicly. Security reports are answered ahead of everything else.
