Scrubsheet for Excel
Excel on Windows, Mac and the web
The same anonymization as the browser tool, inside your workbook. Pick a table or range, check the suggested methods, and get an anonymized copy of the sheet. Your data never leaves Excel.
Coming to Microsoft Marketplace. Until it is listed, you can install it from its manifest file, as described below.
What it does
- Detects emails, phone numbers, names, addresses, IBANs, cards and national IDs from 18 countries.
- Fake, redact, mask, hash, generalize, shuffle or clear, column by column, with a live preview.
- Writes to a copy of the sheet by default. Overwriting the original needs an explicit confirmation.
- Only the columns you anonymize are written: other columns and their formulas stay as they are.
- Handles large ranges in batches, with progress and cancel.

Pro is unlocked with a licence key and is not on sale yet. The browser tool stays free, with no limits.
Install before the Marketplace listing
Download the add-in's manifest (right-click, Save link as…): scrubsheet-manifest.xml. Then:
Excel on the web
- Open a workbook, then Home › Add-ins › More Settings.
- Choose Upload My Add-in, pick the manifest, and select Upload.
Excel on Mac

In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G and go to
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Documents/wef(create theweffolder if it doesn't exist). - Copy the manifest into it, restart Excel, and choose Home › Add-ins.
Excel on Windows
- Put the manifest in a shared network folder.
- File › Options › Trust Center › Trust Center Settings › Trusted Add-in Catalogs: add the folder's network path, tick Show in Menu, and restart Excel.
- Choose Home › Add-ins › Advanced › SHARED FOLDER and add Scrubsheet.
Then open it from Home › Anonymize.
Requirements
Microsoft 365, Excel 2019 or later on Windows, Excel for Mac 16.9 or later, or Excel on the web.
Privacy
The add-in processes the range you choose inside Excel and writes the result into your workbook. It sends no spreadsheet data anywhere: its security policy blocks all network connections. The only thing it loads from outside is Microsoft's Office.js library, which every Excel add-in must load from Microsoft. See the privacy policy.
