How an IBAN is checked
- The first two letters must be a country that uses IBANs, and the length must match that country (18 characters for Finland, 22 for Germany, 27 for France).
- The first four characters are moved to the end, letters are replaced by numbers (A = 10 … Z = 35), and the result must leave a remainder of 1 when divided by 97.
